Working on the basis that the Government’s roadmap continues on the timetable that has been set, the following changes in service will be made from 17th May:
Revised Opening Hours
We will be extending our opening hours:
Mon-Wed & Fri 10am to 5pm
Thursday 10am to 6pm
Saturday 10am to 4pm
Sunday Closed
Social Distancing Measures
We will continue to have social distancing measures in place consistent with Covid-19 secure best practice guidelines as set out by the Government and include the maintaining of a one-way system around the Library, the wearing of face coverings and the use of hand sanitiser and the need for Members to sign in on arrival.
Quarantining of Books
The quarantining of books will be suspended. New research suggests that quarantining of books has negligible benefit.
Refreshments
Coffee Corner will reopen for drinks and you will be able to be take them through into the Main Room. Coasters will be provided in the Main Room where drinks are permitted. Drinks will be provided free of charge until 21st June.
Basement access
The basement will be accessible for browsing but only in the public spaces there. All other areas in the basement will still be restricted.
Computer access
Member computers will be available to use for research purposes.
