Give the gift of books to a friend or family member with Membership of The Leeds Library
David Olusoga says: “The Leeds Library is beautiful, a real jewel.”
Membership of The Leeds Library is the perfect gift for anybody who loves books, calm surroundings, and a beautiful building – and it lasts all year round. Your gift will allow them to be part of the oldest membership library of its type in the UK, to relax in a stunning Grade 2 listed Georgian building which is one of Leeds’ cultural gems, and to become part of a thriving community of book lovers and writers.
Our Gift Membership includes all the benefits of membership plus you receive a card featuring an art print from a book from our collection; a gift certificate; and a letter from our CEO welcoming the new member to our community, all enclosed in a hand-made gift box gold-embossed with the Leeds Library logo. We can post this to you, or send it to your recipient directly. Gift recipients are then invited to make an appointment to be shown around the Library, including an explanation of our range of services, at which point their membership will be activated. Gift recipients have one year from purchase in which to activate their membership.
To purchase a Gift Membership, simply choose the required membership type from the Join Us page on our website, select “Is this a gift – Yes” option on the Checkout page, and pay online if you have a Paypal account. If you do not have a Paypal account and prefer not to create one, then you can pay by credit or debit card over the telephone by calling us on 0113 245 3071 during our opening hours. If you prefer to pay monthly or quarterly by Direct Debit, or the full amount in person, call us to speak to the Membership Administrator, Claire O’Brien or any member of staff.
A Member says: “on entering the doors each time it has consistently been a place akin to a family for us, a family that shares in the search to develop one’s interests, some in common with other people, some perhaps not, a place that allows one’s creativity to spread into newer and often surprising areas, a place to chat or just to be silent, curled up in some corner in a chair, a place to munch on a sandwich or watch, as a cup of tea gets cold, because something new is taking your interest away, and too, a place to be part of the ongoing life in Leeds. “
