Give the gift of books to a friend or family member

Membership of The Leeds Library is the perfect gift for anybody who loves books, calm surroundings and a beautiful building, and lasts all year round. Your gift will allow them to be part of the oldest membership library of its type in the UK, to relax in a stunning Grade 2 listed Georgian building which is one of Leeds’ cultural gems and to become part of a thriving community of book lovers and writers.

Our Gift Membership includes all the benefits of membership  plus a beautiful, handwritten gift card and welcome letter. We can post this to you, or send it to your recipient directly. Gift recipients are then invited to make an appointment to be shown around the Library including an explanation of our range of services. An invitation to a New Members’ Evening will follow which includes a tour of our treasured collections, an opportunity to meet staff and Trustees and mingle with other new Members over drinks and nibbles.

To purchase a Gift Membership, simply choose the required membership type from the Join Us page on  our website, tick “this is a gift” option on the Checkout page, and pay online.  If you prefer to pay quarterly, or in person, drop in to the Library during our opening hours and speak to Membership Administrator, Jen Fox or any member of staff. You can also call us to pay by card on 0113 245 3071.

A Member says: “on entering the doors each time it has consistently been a place akin to a family for us, a family that shares in the search to develop one’s interests, some in common with other people, some perhaps not, a place that allows one’s creativity to spread into newer and often surprising areas, a place to chat or just to be silent, curled up in some corner in a chair, a place to munch on a sandwich or watch, as a cup of tea gets cold, because something new is taking your interest away, and too, a place to be part of the ongoing life in Leeds. ”

A warm welcome awaits!
