WHAT MAKES LEEDS? – A CRITIQUE

Come along to hear from Gerald Jennings, Chairman of West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, who will give an analysis of Leeds and pose a series of questions about the changing face of our fine city and how it needs to respond to emerging trends and general business challenges.

Whether it’s about the future of retail, transport links, bridging the skills gap or Leeds as a compassionate city… Gerald will share his thoughts and facts about Leeds’ strengths, opportunities and contribution to the Northern Powerhouse and UK Plc.

As a Portfolio Director with Land Securities for 16 years, Gerald headed up the company’s Northern retail portfolio in the Leeds office. Locally, he was instrumental in the development of the £650m Trinity Leeds from site acquisition in 2005 to its opening in Spring 2013 and in obtaining planning consent for the extension of the White Rose Shopping Centre.

He is a Non- Executive Director with Henry Boot Plc and PDR Construction and is Chairman of Social Communications. He has been a long-standing advocate for community investment – believing that business should play its role in bridging the economic divide that exists in our towns and cities – and is currently Chair of Trustees at The Tetley, a Governor at Leeds City College and a Director at Ahead Partnership.

Don’t miss what promises to be an informative and thought-provoking session held in one of the city’s hidden gems, The Leeds Library. The oldest surviving library of its kind in the UK, The Leeds Library celebrated its 250th anniversary last year.

There will also be plenty of time to network with other businesses and breakfast will be provided.

Leeds Mencap is hosting the event. We are one of Leeds’ oldest charities, supporting children and young adults with learning disabilities and their families from across the city. You will have the opportunity to meet some of our team, hear about our vital work with the people of Leeds and find out how you could help us to take our ambitions forward.

This event is kindly sponsored by Ison Harrison Solicitors.
