Nowt But Verse with Hannah Stone and Ruth Kelsey

by The Leeds Library

Description

Hannah Stone’s guest for Nowt but Verse on Friday 22nd January is Ruth Kelsey.

We’re delighted to welcome Ruth Kelsey as the first Nowt but Verse guest in an already well-packed programme for 2021. Ruth’s poetic journey began in earnest while studying Creative Writing at the University of Leeds in 2010, yet it was only after a life-changing decision a few years ago that she felt sufficiently confident to get involved with the local poetry community. Ruth is a member of Otley Stanza and is regularly to be found at spoken word events such as Word Club, Otley Poets, and Sound Bites. Her work has been published in various magazines and anthologies, such as Dream Catcher, Ink Sweat & Tears, and Obsessed With Pipework. Ruth’s poem Superman Writes Poetry On His Day Off was placed third in the 2020 Yaffle Prize.

To book your place, register here on Eventbrite and you will be emailed a Zoom link to the event on Thursday 21st January at 5.30pm. Please check your spam as well for the email if it doesn’t appear. This event will start at 1pm with around 40 minutes of conversation between the poets followed by 10 mins of questions from the audience with no open mic. We look forward to entertaining you with our conversation.

This is a free event with an option to donate with all proceeds going to the Leeds Library.

Future dates: Friday 19th February with Sharena Lee Satti; Friday 19th March with Jeff Cotterill.
