FrightFest in The Library – A Northern Short Story Festival Mini-Fest.
Horror Out Loud: prose open mic featuring Lucie McKnight Hardy & Alison Littlewood
Northern Short Story Festival presents an afternoon of chilling horror with a folk-horror flavour. Join featured readers Shirley Jackson Award winning author Alison Littlewood (Best of British Horror), and Dead Ink author Lucie McKnight Hardy (Best of British Short Stories), for an afternoon of horror stories that will stun, scare, and startle!
This event will be held in The Leeds Library (on Commercial St NOT Central Library) which was founded in 1768, and is the oldest surviving example of a membership subscription library in the British Isles. Legend says the Library is haunted by a former Librarian, Vincent Sternberg who still browses the stacks at night, along with other ghostly apparitions. We cannot promise sight of these during your visit but you might feel a chill or two as you wander around the Library.
Limited Open Mic slots are available for your own stories. To book one of these from Tuesday 1st October, email email@example.com. All stories must be under 5 minutes long. Halloween fancy dress encouraged, with prizes!
Tickets are £6 + Eventbrite booking fee. Doors at 3pm for a 3.30pm start. There will be a bar serving refreshments.
If you are coming to this event, why not tie it in with our FrightFest horror writing workshop at 2pm? Tickets are £6 + Eventbrite booking fee and can be booked additionally here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/frightfest-in-the-library-write-a-horror-story-in-an-hour-tickets-71210214669
