Description
Celebrate the genius of Dylan Thomas between 2-4 pm on Friday 14th May, at the annual Day Day event hosted on Zoom by the Leeds Library where your hosts will be Patrick Lodge and Hannah Stone.
The Leeds Library is delighted to once again host the annual celebration of Dylan Thomas in their contribution to the world-wide celebration of Dylan Thomas (International Dylan Thomas Day | Discover Dylan Thomas).
This year alongside the regular reading of favourite poems chosen by local (and less local poets, thanks to the wonders of Zoom) we have contributions from guests including Peter Thabit Jones who, with Aeronwy Thomas, wrote the definitive walking guide to Dylan’s Greenwich Village, the New York poet, Andrew Singer, founder of Trafika Europe and also from the 92nd Street Y – the place in New York where, on May 14th 1952 the first performance of Under Milk Wood took place.
We are also delighted to be launching a new book honouring Thomas, Dear Dylan, edited by Ronnie Goodyer and Anna Saunders and published by Indigo Dreams Publishing, an unusual project in which contributors (who will be reading their pieces) write both a poem and a letter to Dylan Thomas.
Use the Eventbrite link to book your place in advance so that you receive your codes to get into the Zoom room. The Zoom link will be sent out on Thursday 13th May at 6pm and then again at midday on Friday 14th May. Please check you spam folder as these emails sometimes go there.
This is a free event with an option to donate to the Leeds Library. Please pre-order your copies of Dear Dylan direct from Indigo Dreams.
