Transitional: Munroe Bergdorf

by The Leeds Library

A talk by activist, model, writer and broadcaster Munroe Bergdorf on her new book ‘Transitional’

Transitional: In One Way or Another, We All Transition is the life-affirming, heartfelt and intimate new book newly-published by internationally renowned activist, model, writer and broadcaster Munroe Bergdorf.

In 2019, Bergdorf was awarded an honorary doctorate for campaigning for transgender rights by the University of Brighton, and appointed as a National Advocate for UN Women UK. Munroe is a proud ambassador for gender variant and transgender youth charity Mermaids and a founding consultant of L’Oreal Paris’ UK Diversity and Inclusion Board. She has also spoken at international institutions from Oxford to UN General Assembly.

In this talk, Munroe she shares reflections from her own life to illustrate how transitioning is an essential part of all of our lives. Through the story of one woman’s extraordinary mission to live with authenticity, Transitional shows us how to heal, how to build a stronger community and how to evolve as a society out of shame and into pride.

A note about accessibility – Unfortunately, our Grade II* listed building is not currently fully accessible. We have a stair lift from the ground floor foyer to the first floor but are unable to install a through-floor lift due to the building’s historic status. Please email us on enquiries@theleedslibrary.org.uk if you have any questions around access, and we will do everything that we can to accommodate you.

The Leeds Library is committed to making its building and collections accessible to everyone in our current capital building works project The Next Chapter Project. To find out more, please visit the website HERE.
