Description
Especially for the Leeds LitFest, The Leeds Library has programmed a Speaking to the Shelves Workshop featuring writer and storyteller – Matthew Bellwood who will be working with the story of Blodeuwydd, to ask participants to Rethink Folk Tales in this two hour session that will combine writing and storytelling. The Speaking to the Shelves creative writing series is curated by Becky Cherriman and sees established writers and workshop leaders exploring books they consider part of the literary canon and write creatively in response to them. Matthew Bellwood is a queer writer and storyteller with a wealth of experience of theatre, live art, site-specific performance and meaningful projects that engage communities as co‐authors and creators of high-quality work. In recent years, he has created a number of touring theatre shows combining live storytelling, with intricate models and miniatures, including An Icy Man, a tabletop ghost story; (The Story is Not) Set in Stone – a piece about stories and why we tell them and Terror From the Skies, a studio piece about life in a South Leeds suburb. More info about all of these shows is available at www.somestories.co.uk
